During the 6th and 7 th c. a mint was striking coins in the name of Daria Vicus, the first name of Dierre. This name changed over the centuries, to becomes Dierre in the 19th century.
Coquiau : fortified fief. In the 16th c. the manor belonged to Jean du Puy, companion to Joan of Arc.
The priory : a monastery, practically destroyed.
12th century church dedicated to Saint Médard. The church was visited in 1963 by Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, who on the way from Chenonceau to Tours asked to visit a local country church. Dierre was of special interest as the vaulted ceiling carries the Coat of Arms of the Plantagenet's who were not only Counts of Anjou, but also Kings of England.
The aerodrome : a small airfield by the Cher where flights over the castles can be organised.
