Eglise paroissiale Saint Martin

History :
The origin of the name is obscure, but could derive from Sabulum, the Latin for "Sand". However it is believed that the roots of the name may be much earlier than the Roman period.
Sites
Archaeology :
2 tumuli from "Les Danges" and furniture from 500 BC have been discovered and are on view at the museum of National Antiquities.
A cemetery from the 6th and 7th century as well as objects dating from 1800 BC were discovered in the 19th c.
Iron age artefacts have also been discovered in a well dating from the "Gaul" period.
Saint Martin church :
This Roman church, dating from the 12th c.includes a font from the same period.
